教學過程中常常遇到學生關于長難句的剖析和了解不到位的情況，長難句的剖析和了解會影響學生在托福閱覽的了解，尤其是在語句簡化題。這次標題解析針關于TPO的一個長難句：

       ​Sediments are also dropped where a river slows on entering a lake or the sea, the deposited sediments are on a lake floor or the seafloor at first, but will be located inland at some future date, when the sea level falls or the land rises; such beds are sometimes thousands of meters thick.

       ​難句類型： 雜亂潤飾+刺進成分

       ​本句的主句構造應當是Sediments are also dropped，but will be located inland at some future date; such beds are sometimes thousands of meters thick. 這是一個由分號離隔的并列句，分號前面的語句構造比較雜亂，Sediments are also dropped ，后邊跟了一個由where引導的狀語從句，緊接著這個狀語從句又加上了一個刺進構造， the deposited sediments are on a lake floor or the seafloor at first， 然后才開端進行轉機but will be located inland at some future date， 可是立刻又跟上了一個由when 引導的狀語從句。分號后邊的半句比較簡單 such beds are sometimes thousands of meters thick.同學們面臨這樣的語句一定要先找骨干，把狀語從句、刺進構造紛紛越過，從紛繁雜亂的語句中找出骨干來，才干不被ETS出題人改寫的語句所利誘。
